Lincoln Highway Route Change Proposed in North Platte
National secretary Hole and wife and State Counsel Walt of the Lincoln Highway Association met North Platte officials to discuss moving the highway from Twelfth to Ninth street. The proposed route would cross Locust street then go west on Ninth to the Cody Ranch road, avoiding a deadly curve near the cemetery. Ninth street paving is underway and could extend to the city limits, prompting calls for the change if local residents push it together.

Boy Scouts Begin Nine Day Camp Along North Platte River
The North Platte local Council led by scout executive B L Stephens starts the annual encampment near the river six miles NW of town. The event runs August 23 to 31 with visitors welcome any time and advice to bring blankets for overnight stays.

Kiwanians Resume Meetings After Summer Break
The Kiwanis club met Tuesday noon at the Timmerman Vineyard with strong attendance after a short summer pause. J Guy Swope spoke on the Toronto International Kiwanis convention and urged a follow up meeting to discuss business and policy. W R Maloney and Harry Dixon of the Rotary club invited Kiwanians and ladies to a Rotary picnic dinner next Monday, which was accepted. F C Pielsticker handed out cigars to celebrate a new arrival at home.

Community Bathing Beach remodeling plan proposed
Yesterday John Nelson displayed blueprints by Architect Heck in the Leader showing a remodeled two block by one block bathing beach. The plan adds sandy slopes at sides, a sun bath, commodious east bath houses, a fenced grounds, a west settling basin with a dam and heated main pool, plus vines trees walks and a large car parking area and an east road to Locust street. Nelson praised the plan and hopes to raise funds to complete it before next year. The Methodist Ladies Aid elected officers for the coming year and reported earnings of 1248.86 over expenses. Henry Buhe of Lena visited North Platte.
