Generous response to state fair exhibits noted. County urged to provide varied grains and vegetables, with exhibits due by August 29 at the Chamber of Commerce. Contact Secretary Fisher for items such as threshed grain seeds, 1916 corn ears, several vegetables, potatoes, onions, squash, and melons.
The North Platte Municipal band directed by Earl Stamp will perform at o'clock this evening featuring marches Gippeland and Flag Day, tone picture After Glow, overture Orpheus, Norwegian Dance No 2, rag Operatic, and Valse Hesitation Delectation. The band thanks the public for last Friday's ovation and invites warm applause for favored numbers.
The Riverdale pennant winners with a 24 of 27 record travel to North Platte for a Sunday game. The visit promises a strong performance from the visitors, who have dominated their league in recent seasons.

Between 2000 and 3000 people attended the opening of Ogalalla’s Round-Up a frontier pageant featuring 17 events. The fairgrounds drew hundreds of cars as participants from Nebraska Colorado Wyoming Texas New Mexico and Arizona took part. Bucking broncos steer riding and lassoing drew big crowds plus a lively crowd at the Audubon camp and a Keith Theatre program with The Disciple and Her Painted Hero.

The Waltemath Lumber and Coal Company forms in North Platte with Henry Waltemath as president Fred Waltemath vice president and Will Waltemath secretary and manager. The firm buys the Hahler property for a yard and leases adjacent Union Pacific ground to ensure easy trackage. It plans a paint and glass shop on Sixth Street and aims to be a leading regional supplier with strong local investments.
Will Maupin of the York Democrat praises North Platte for shedding dependence on the Union Pacific payroll and notes a boom in hotels, depots, and business structures. He cites a modern hotel, a new Union Pacific depot and division HQ, and a booming paving program as signs of rapid growth.
Special Agent Tom Watts of Grail Inland and Supt. Schemmerhorn of Omaha visited for Union Pacific business. A. L. Ranald of Laramie, long with Union Pacific leadership, spent a day in town. Genl. OCotter Arkansas August 23 J F O Don nell conductor on the White River division of the Iron Mountain road delayed a passenger train twenty minutes to fetch milk for a sick baby on board and received a letter of commendation from B F Bush receiver praising his humanity over discipline. The Mothers club guests and out of town visitors attended a farm afternoon with social conversation and sensitization work. Dorothy Brown died after months of illness. Funeral plans to be announced. Mrs William Young visits daughter Mrs Carl Simon. Catholic ladies society to hold an ice cream social at Mrs M C Hayes home next Wednesday evening.
