First Annual Play Festival at North Platte Grounds
The First Annual Play Festival will be held at the public playground Wednesday afternoon and evening. An under eight sand house building contest will award candy prize boxes and space per child. East End vs West End playground ball kicks off seven to nine with further games and a folk dance closing the event. The band will perform multiple selections to support this community holiday.

Nathaniel Lapp Dies of Stomach Cancer at Moorefield
Nathaniel Lapp aged over sixty who lived north of Wallace died yesterday at his daughter’s Moorefield home after a year long stomach cancer. He leaves several children. The funeral will be held in Moorefield. He had arranged a sale of his farm personal property for August 25, the funeral day, which proceeds as planned today despite his death.
