The Cucumber Aphis or plant louse is a small green insect that weakens vines by sucking juices. When vines wilt and brown, aphids are likely present. Control is by spraying with nicotine sulfate or Black Leaf 40 at one teaspoon to one tablespoon per gallon of water using a hand sprayer.

Local trades brighten Elks Hall woodwork and lenses, with tastefully stocked shops and a visit from Dr. Neale. Theodore Meyer, who sold an interest in North Platte Creamery, has purchased the Hawpel farm two miles west of town. The 120 acre property with strong improvements sells for 39000 in cash, including twenty cows other stock and farm implements. Meyer takes possession today to begin dairying.
Len Kidwell of Wallace reports from Kearney on the potato market with only a small harvest likely in Lincoln County. He notes the county will need to ship what little produce exists for sale locally.
