Radium Treatment Given For Cancer At North Platte General
Mrs. Maury Rateliff of Mirwood underwent a serious radium operation at North Platte General Hospital. Dr. Lucas and Dr. Quigley administered radium after removal of cancer, using a glass encased inch tube with lead shielding. Treatment spanned hours with multiple placements, totaling 65 000 milogrames valued at $10 000. Each tube costs $4 000 and the radium is sterilized for reuse.
