When rates are low and service good, telephone use expands. In the United States service is praised as the best with the lowest rates, and Americans use the telephone more than twice as much as people in any other nation. Official figures follow.
The ball tournament drew big crowds from neighboring towns and locals over two days with strong games. Ogalalla beat Cozad 3 2 in a pitched battle, Hershey beat North Platte 2 0, and North Platte edged Ogalalla 2 1 in eleven innings as Pierce hit a dramatic cen ter field homer.
Fourteen year old Prank Scott was struck by an automobile driven by three Indiana tourists at Sixth and Locust. His right leg broke below the knee, the wheel passing over it, with six to eight feet dragged. He was taken to Edelberry's residence, treated, then returned home. drivers claim they slowed to six miles an hour and he failed to see them.
The North Platte Sweet Clover company nears harvest finish with one thousand acres cut and stacked. One hundred acres remain on A. W. Plumer land at Maxwell and fifty on the Brown place west of town. J. E. Ryans land north of the river is being threaded. Yields range from one to four bushels per acre. For rent a well furnished five room cottage is available with modern conveniences except heat. The Vienna Cafe offers a Sunday dinner including soup such as sliced cucumber consomme and julienne, fried lake trout with drawn butter, spring chicken, roast young duck with dressing, prime rib of beef, angus chicken salad, mashed potatoes, new corn, young turtles in cream feed, watermelon, cherry pie, coffee, milk, tea, and cream.
Mrs Gov Prosser and Mrs Herbert Baker plan a Ken sington afternoon gathering. Luncheon hostesses Mrs Bullard and Mrs Warren will entertain for Mrs Trueax followed by auction bridge. Study club at 600 meets. Bessie Smith entertains Kensington visitors. Bird club picnic on North River. Laura Murray presides. Club Nevita held Kensington event with prize and consolation. A city resident for three years, Dios John Aelet Christen Van Kneton died Wednesday night from a complication of s pikenses at age forty eight years seven months and twenty seven days. He leaves a wife and four children. The family recently immigrated from the old country and he worked as a day laborer since arriving in Blaely. Also notice an upcoming Grab Sale at MekKiny's on Saturday afternoon.
City churches join in Sunday out door service at the Methodist church. Rehearsals prepare a union service noted as musical with all churches encouraged to participate next year.

Ogalalla and Cornd teams are set for a Sunday afternoon game at the local grounds with the same lineup as Wednesday when Ogalalla won three to two. The match carries a purse of 8100 and gate receipts, promising a record crowd at the ball fete.
WANY fans crowd neighboring towns in their cars as Hershey and Qualulla stun with two excellent games on opening day and yesterday. Mrs Charles Brown and Miss Ethel Brown of Brady visit Gothenburg. Henry Discoe, foreman at Wilhama ranch near Brady, suffers a crushed finger in a windmill accident and has the finger amputated without anesthetic.
