Frank Qumberfeldt of Sutherland pleaded guilty to six counts and drew six months in the county jail. J D Barger of Pennsylvania, who spoke against the fuel administrator over coal prices, received three months in jail. Both had been jailed on sedition charges.
Two casualty reports issued yesterday list 758 names, including ten Nebraskans. Eight reported killed in action and two severely wounded. Overall totals show 191 killed in action and 2182 missing, with the Nebraskan names not included in last Sunday's totals.
The War Department announced that American troops in France receive ample bread made from wheat flour, with a daily 18 ounce flour ration for bread and a possible reduction to 16 ounces. Soldiers at home use substitutes, while full wheat bread is allowed only after reaching France.
Liberty bonds opened at 101 on the New York stock exchange and rose to 101.66 later in the day, signaling that the 3 percent bonds may stay above par. Investors who feared a drop below par observed a new high record.
A telegram from the Omaha World-Herald to Miss Edna Sullivan prompts North Platte to co operate in a national celebration of Pershing birthday on Friday September 13. Sullivan reports local patriotic societies are in accord and preparations will be made to make the event a major North Platte celebration.
Voters head to polls today as state and county primaries open at eight and close at eight. In the Republican race for U S senator Hammond Sloan and Norris are strongest. for the Democrats Morehead and Metcalf lead. Governor nominees Neville and Bryan fight for the Democratic nomination. Polling places include Lloyd Opera House First ward Court House Second ward Fire station Third ward Buick garage.
Under a new act threshermen must report wheat production. Lincoln county threshers should contact Bert Barber, County Agent, to provide their reporting address. Failure to report is a misdemeanor under the statute.
A basket picnic will be held this afternoon at Emma Anderson’s home 414 E 11th St. A four o clock program is planned and supper will follow after six. Dr H C Brock and F W Rincker went to Fairbury last week. Mrs Brock and their son returned home last night. Charley Herrod resigns from Herrod Grocery and may join the army quartermasters. Mr and Mrs C O Whingand and sons, touring Minnesota and Wisconsin, arrive tomorrow. Potatoes cabbage and tomatoes are three cents a pound at Lincoln Highway Gardens 2000 Week east Fourth.
French armies push on a nine mile front between the Oise and Aisne rivers, extending a mile and a quarter with the Picardy salient lines consolidated. They capture Neuves-Cincre and seize prisoners, war material, and supplies, as allied artillery harasses rear positions and the Marne counteroffensive reaches its western edge.

A W Plumer has been confined with inflammatory rheumatism. Miss Frank Elliott went to Kansas City and eastern cities to shop for millinery. Dr L C Drost and family returning from six weeks in the east. O B Garrison back from Portland visiting his ailing mother. Frank Burke to Fremont to visit relatives then Camp Funston. A nine pound baby born yesterday to John and Christina Nelson. Mrs Nelson and baby reported well. Miss Laura Hemming and Miss Bishop, Omaha nurses, guests at P W Olson farm, returned home. Thelma Frater left for Lincoln to resume pharmacy studies.
The firm of Diener and Fleishman dealers in boots and shoes is dissolved. W H Diener as liquidating partner will settle all obligations and collect claims. The business will continue at the old stand. Dated August 13 1918.
Notice records an especial May 18 1917 vote in North Platte Lincoln County Nebraska on issuing ten thousand dollars in wagon bridge bonds to span the South Platte river. Of 303 votes cast 288 favored bonds 15 opposed over two thirds approved. City Clerk C Be Elder signs August 12 1922 affixing city seal.

The W B Howard ranch of 400 acres northwest of town sold to an eastern party for 26000 dollars, about 65 dollars per acre. The tract is small valley land. Also a broken mule with no brands but a hidden tail mark claimed by notice by G W Titchener, Somerset Nebraska.
Secretary of War Baker told the military affairs committee that men aged 18 to 19 would be placed in a separate class and drafted after older groups are exhausted. Provost Marshal Crowder is preparing regulations to create 18 to 46 class divisions for a future draft. Baker clarified that married men lacking support or useful work would not receive blanket exemptions.
