The revivalist Billy Sunday spoke to a near 6000 crowd at a south Dewey street tent, denouncing saloons and breweries as harmful. He used rapid-fire statistics and vivid illustrations to urge votes for the prohibition amendment, drawing strong applause and crowding 400 to 600 cars nearby.
A well attended wedding took place Wednesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Huebner southwest of town as Minna Johnson became the bride of Benjamin Johnson. Rev Degner of Kearney officiated. the couple will reside in O Fallon after a trip to Estes Park. Guest attendance included twelve to fifteen from out of town.
The W C T U met at 403 South Willow Tuesday afternoon and elected officers for the year: Mrs. Belle Morris president, Mrs. Joe Murphy vice president, Mrs. Rose Louden secretary, and Mrs. Minnie Perkins treasurer. A follow up meeting will nominate superintendents and select a delegate for the state convention in Omaha. Miss Clara Rodgers and Lawrence Powell married in Denver Tuesday evening.
H V Hilliker formerly of this city and long time inspector of transportation for the Union Pacific is promoted to day station master at Omaha replacing H M Simpson who moves to the night post. Hilliker will relocate his family from Denver to Omaha.
President Wilson presented to labor leaders a settlement plan aiming to avert the looming railroad strike. Key points include an eight hour workday and a congress president appointed commission to study its implementation, with a tentative onset pending investigation. Railroads would arbitrate disputes before a tribunals.
A Brady Vindicator report describes Kharkov beardleaf wheat exhibited for the county and state fairs with a yard-long straw and yield of 3014 ashers per acre after being haled. Other briefs note a Billy Sunday meeting cost about $500, liquor concerns in Hershey, Col Dave Love possibly returning from Rochester, and local business changes including Harry Porter remodeling the old bank building for a restaurant and confectionery. Charles Smith leaves for Montana to teach, and Chase Leypoldt buys the Starr ranch near Platte Valley for 320 acres at 50 per acre with stock and implements for 2600.

Mrs. Conrad Anderson returns from Sterling. baby born to Mr. and Mrs. S Pheral of Wallace. Gasoline price cut announced by Standard Oil in Omaha.
