Lincoln County Sutherland Nebraska hosts a Wild West event by the Platte River Round-Up Association. The program recreates frontier life with local residents portraying early pioneers and Sioux conflicts in Sleepy Hollow.
North Platte defeated Cheyenne in two booster games to raise funds for a Denver tournament bid. Sunday saw a 3 0 tie through ten innings before North Platte broke it. Monday ended 12 to 10 in favor of North Platte. Proceeds exceeded expenses by about 200, with 500 more needed by Sept. 1 to secure travel, targeting a Sleepy Hollow amphitheatre reunion with pioneer figures, Buffalo Bill show features, and a four day event August 21–24, 1922.
Miss Ruth Hitler led camp morning sessions at seven while North Platte citizens donated foods for the girls. Lessons on first aid were taught by Mrs. Cotterell Dr. Redfield Dr. Fenner and Mrs. Lemon, with crafts led by Mrs. Turpie and Miss McDonald including needlework blueprints and count-book making.
The Lincoln County Fair at North Platte September 19 to 22 will feature farm products from credit to an international exhibition. Four principal grains are corn oats wheat and barley. Entries close September 19 under Superintendent P A Olan. Prizes hinge on maturity plumpness and soundness. avoid oversized monstrosities in corn ears.
The Lincoln County Center base ball team, organized last year, is in its second season and making a good record. The rural club played O'Pallons at Hershey and Echo last week, winning 10 to 5. Pitcher Glen FeKain and catcher Grant Kronquest lead the squad.
The third quarterly meeting will be held at O’Fallows on Thursday August 17 with state speaker McCarty present to address the gathering. John Pickett of Cheyenne and Louis Trexler are visiting this week as managers of the state exchange.
County Agent Kellogg forwards L. Vance’s warning on hog cholera dynamics in Nebraska. The piece notes a rising, then falling loss pattern with persistent nonzero minima, urging broad vaccination and serum use to curb outbreaks, especially in heavy hog regions this season.
Fifty campfire girls guardians and camp staff held a religious service at the camp Sunday morning. The session featured heat devotion and the International Sunday School lesson taught by Miss McKay and Mrs Adda Turple. In the evening a Sunday ceremonial was presented before a good sized crowd of visitors.
Misa Lola Huntington returned to Maxwell Sunday after a week with friends in the city. Roy Eels traveled from Brady last Tuesday and had Dr. Lynch remove his tonsils at Platte Valley Hospital.
