Closing at Chautauqua Sparks Ticket Pledge Plan
During closing sessions a committee proposed securing 140 volunteers to buy four tickets each to guarantee next year’s Chautauqua. Several already pledged with a few taking ten tickets and others two to six. Twelve more names were needed to meet the requirement as the crew departed yesterday. Attendance averaged about 1,000 by afternoon and 1,800 by evening with entertainers including the American Girls, Senator Gore, and the Brooks Ingham Co. among the top attractions.

Drowning of Wettle child at Broemer farm incident
A Wettle infant of Mr and Mrs M A Gletson drowned Wednesday night in a cellar at the Broemer farm north of town. The body lay in water until found after a search and Doctors failed to revive the child. Funeral services will be held in the city with interment in the Catholic cemetery.

Mrs Chesemore of McPherson county is recovering well at North Platte General hospital. Mrs E Rithers, recently operated on there, is doing nicely. Mrs W L Richards entered the hospital Thursday for treatment. Mrs Alphonse Picard, seriously ill for some time, was taken to the hospital this week.
Woman Killed by Late Train At Sutherland
A Sutherland woman, mother of Mrs. McCord, was struck by train No. 10 and killed as she stepped onto the tracks to board a late arriving train. No. 10, four hours late, reached Sutherland just before No. 4, leading the woman to mistake it for her ride and be thrown under the cars. The body was badly mutilated.

Passing of Judge Munger in Omaha
Judge W H Mininger of Omaha died after a year long illness from arteriosclerosis at his home. He leaves wife Jennie M Fowler two daughters Mrs H P Bell and Mrs B E Jackson and son Horton Munger. Born October 1 1845 in Bergen New York he practiced law in Fremont before joining the federal bench in Omaha. Interment likely in Fremont Saturday.
