Town and county items report Howard McMichael securing the contract to build F. L. Mooney's new home. Various local notices include marriages, approvals, church events, and philanthropic appeals amid town’s weekly updates.
Elmer Bosworth of Kansas, a bridge gang worker for Union Pacific, suffered serious internal injuries when a rope broke while lifting a tie at the new stock yards. He was taken to St Luke's hospital and underwent surgery Tuesday afternoon. doctors report his condition favorable for a speedy recovery.
James Williams, a colored man employed at coal chutes, was arrested Tuesday for grand larceny. Pleading guilty, he faced Judge Grimes who sentenced him to one year in the penitentiary. Taken to Lincoln by Sheriff Miltenberger, Williams had been under suspicion after brass missing from the railroad company was traced to him. About 500 pounds total alleged theft.
G W Stroup of Omaha transacted business in town Wednesday. Dozens of residents and visitors arrive or depart from town including Bertha Crab of Ogallala, Mrs P H McEvoy and son Charles, Ray Langford and two sons from Cody Wyoming, Miss Helen Lundgren from Denver, Miss Pearl Koontz headed to eastern state relatives, J Carlisle of Lander, and many others. The notes follow visits to Omaha, Denver, Cheyenne, Ogden, Gothenburg, and Dubuque with spouses, children, and traveling engineers. Several fishing trips are planned to Saratoga and rail and motorcycle travelers visit nearby cities including Denver and Cheyenne. Mrs Harriet McDonald and Ruth of Mastoria Ohio arrive for relatives’ visit. a long list of short comings and returns conclude the column.
