The selective draft examining board will complete its work tonight with 230 men considered, 65 exemptions filed, and 63 not seeking exemptions. Dr. Geo B. Dent and Dr. J. Simms examine, Sheriff Salisbury handles registration, and County Clerk Allen types the answers.
A wartime insurance notice urges enlisted men and draftees to secure Old Line Life policies for wives mothers sisters or business affairs. Policies up to 2000 dollars cover service members while in US territory with no extra premium and direct contact via J E Sebastian state agent in North Platte Nebraska.

Several North Platte boys loyal to the navy have been called to serve in Omaha and proceed to naval training stations. Walter Hoxle departed last night and will report today. Jesse Vernon, Arthur McCabe, and Clarence Day must report August 15, Paul Otten stein on the 17th.
The board of education and Supt. Tout state city schools will open Monday September 10, correcting reports they would stay closed until November. Arrangements for the opening are practically complete.
North Platte residents and nearby precincts may pay Red Cross war fund pledges at the Chamber of Commerce rooms to Mr. Durbin.
Grasstoppers are damaging many alfalfa fields in the valley. In several instances only the coarse stalks remain as leaves have been stripped by the insect.
