The Standard Chautauqua begins Monday August 14 for six days. Local organizers praise the balanced lineup with musical afternoons and lectures at night. The week ends with the play The Shepherd of the Hills. Tickets go on sale next week via a committee of local businesspeople.
William Schiltz born July 19 1896 Cheyenne Wyoming died August 3 1922 at age 26 after injuries from a turtleing car crash. He served one year in WWI and worked at Simon Bros for eleven years. Survived by mother Mrs Julia Schiltz sisters Mrs Walter Ohl Mrs Ford Stryson and Julia Schiltz. Funeral tomorrow at 2 pm from Christian Church with American Legion in charge. Burials in local cemetery.
The local baseball team will host Beaver City for a series of games on Sunday and Monday, August 6 and 7. Both teams have played well recently, making the series promising for North Platte fans.
Mr and Mrs T D Wendtland and daughter will move to Sidney where he takes a shoe department manager job at Greenlees store. He previously managed Buck s Booterie in this city.
Lincoln county real estate values for taxation purposes were raised 19 percent by the State Board of Equalization, down from a proposed 20 percent. County officers, after meeting the board in the state capital, argued Lincoln county conditions and succeeded in lowering the increase.
Sixty men and boys with M. B. Possum and Geo. L. Kellogg toured Lincoln County farms from North Platte visiting Jas. White Carl Orrin Scott McCrone and Roy Spurrier to study cattle hogs and sheep and train youths in stock judging. They split trips west and east and will announce the Lincoln County judging team members later.
The Lincoln County Progressive Party Convention is set for next week in the courthouse court room at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday August 8 to select delegates to the State convention and fill vacancies in the precinct organization.
Manager Hawley promotes the Queen of Sheba at the Keith this week. The feature is celebrated for beauty and historical accuracy and linked to legends about the queen from the south that influenced Solomon. Mrs. N. W. Carpenter returned to Lander after visiting relatives.
The North Platte campfire organizations begin their third annual encampment Tuesday evening under Mrs. Adda Turple and a staff of guardians and officers. The event features a completed camp house grounds and road plus a full program including nature crafts first aid swimming and various themed evenings through Sunday.

Mr and Mrs W J Hendy and family plan a weeklong trip to Yellowstone Park and surrounding areas. They built a low, light yet sturdy mobile home on a Hecht truck chassis with their own design improvements. The vehicle includes electric lights hot and cold water curtains beds cupboards lavatory and other comforts, enabling a monthlong self reliant journey without hotels or camp grounds.
George Finn resigns as custodian at the free Auto Camp with George Schrocongost named to replace him effective August 1. W. F. Maloney reports a Yellowstone trip. The July 1922 summary shows a cooler and wetter month with a 72.9 normal, high 98 and low 48, total rainfall 49 inches the most in thirteen years. Windiest day reached 32 mph with 18 clear, 6 partly cloudy and 7 cloudy days.
News reached North Platte Wednesday of the death of Norman Loudon at Savannah Missouri. He had suffered from a facial cancer and sought relief from cancer specialists. A well known contractor locally, he had many friends here. The body was brought home and the funeral will be held here with arrangements not yet completed.
John Johmann of Gothenburg was a business visitor in the city yesterday. The census tables show population growth in rural precincts not containing any city or village during the 1910 to 1920 decade.
Lincoln county men and women form a committee led by Be A Olson to organize the Lincoln county exhibit of agricultural products for the Nebraska State Fair. A loading truck will depart North Platte August 30 and deliver products to the Union Pacific tracks here on August 31 for shipment.
Frank Holowka, an alien, was fined a total of 15.75 dollars in county court after Deputy Game Warden Boettcher cited him for underpaying an alien fishing license. He had paid only one dollar for himself and the same for his wife, with four dollars more required on each license plus 7.75 dollars in costs. The case was blamed on ignorance of the law. Mrs. Kathe Fagg returned to Brady from a visit to her son William Fage at Platte Valley hospital. The Summer Nebraskan notes baseball star Joe Pixter, now with Hastings in the Nebraska circuit, batting .267 with 47 hits and 29 runs in 176 at bats and recently swap from Beatrice.
