W S Dolson announces arrangements for a trap shooting match between the Grand Island gun clubs and our city club to be held in North Platte next month. In two past contests Island shooters won, but local competitors feel confident this year they can win.
Colonel H C Bently former Pacific Hotel manager in our city died in Denver last Monday. Telegrams relayed the news on Wednesday. Funeral arrangements were not detailed. Old friends here regret his passing.
The Wild West Show opened its season at Madison Square Garden in New York City last Tuesday evening before a large audience. General Miles General Brooke and Senator Clark attended as hundreds of horses unfamiliar to show business shied at electric light shadows, causing several riders to be thrown and many bruises reported.
At the general meeting of the fire department in the First ward hose house on Tuesday evening Norman J. Wilson was re elected chief by acclamation. Joseph E. Weeks withdrew his candidacy before the vote. Wilson is described as a popular and efficient chief capable of decisive action when needed.
John McGrew and Gusta Eckleson wed at Gothenburg on Wednesday afternoon at the bride’s uncle’s home. The couple arrived later that day and left for Denver to start business ventures. Mrs. McGrew had long worked at the Baldwin residence and is noted for character and financial means. Mr. McGrew is described as worthy and popular, with best wishes for success in their new home.
