A Saturday recital by first three grades under Mr Ludwig Koenigerein filled the First Congregational Church. Irene Blatt Ethel Asking Elsie Gildea Ruth Halverstein and May Siders performed Five Scenes in Pixie Land. Miss Nelle Handley gave an engaging reading and The Tea Party play delighted the crowd. The Y P B S C B cleared about 10 on the entertainment.

The planned general store in the Eisley building will not open. Casper Rush, of Antelope County, was to operate the venture but now the project is cancelled.
The Daily reports the first brick on Norfolk's federal building was laid yesterday by foreman Alice of the construction company. Chicago May 11 Special to The Nova reports a Flores battle of bullets on a crowded downtown avenue. Police Sergeant Miller and two officers were shot. Miller killed as they attempted to capture three crooks. The crooks escaped in the ensuing confusion as the officers returned fire.
D. O. O Connor of this city chosen president for the ensuing year by the Nebraska Schoolmaster's lab. A meeting of leading public school educators in the state was held at Lincoln last week with O Connor elected. A dinner followed at the Lincoln hotel.
Company L of N. N. G. has leased the second floor of the Olney building for an armory. Captain O. A. Fuller and the members express satisfaction with the new quarters, noting they are more commodious than previous facilities.
The situation in Omaha improves as all restaurants reopen after strikes end. May 10 reports indicate workers reached agreements and business returns to normal.

The 29th annual convention of the Order of Railway Conductors in Pittsburg elected new grand officers led by Chief Conductor B. S. Clark and Assistant Chief A. E. Garretson. Major pay raises were approved for several officers and amendments included unlimited insurance reserve, reduced eligibility days, and repeal of a permanent home for disabled members.
The French steamer La Champagne brought sixty four religious exiles to New York, including four sisters and sixty brothers, mostly students. Forty six proceed to Metuchen New Jersey while the rest head to Montreal.
