Muskogee Okla March 18 A L McLemore a wealthy Bear Hiskell Oklahoma farmer was shot and killed on his own farm. A negro tenant tied to a quarrel over rent settlement is suspected of the killing and is being pursued by authorities.
Mrs. Clara Buzzard a school teacher died in Toledo after swallowing chipped glass pieces found in canned fruit. The incident occurred March 18 as complications from the ingestion led to her death.

Alma Neb March 18 Ralph Baker son of a prominent farmer accidentally killed himself with a rifle while herding cattle. A fellow boy of the same age witnessed the incident saying the gun was pointed upwards when it discharged and the ball entered Baker's head behind the ear.
At midnight a massive blaze destroyed the Sunderland Brothers' stables and coal sheds in Omaha. Twenty horses perished as the fire raged beyond control before authorities could free the animals. The long sheds burned extensively.

King Edward I watched Wilbur Wright fly alone for seven minutes then carry Miss Wright as passenger. The aircraft left the shed decked with American British and French flags. A second ascent followed with a high altitude glide and a six minute return amid applause. The king congratulated Wright before departing.

After three days the U S army transport Logan with twenty five feet of bow on a reef opposite its slip was refloated and will sail for Manila. divers found no hull damage and the ship is deemed seaworthy to continue to the Orient. Refloating followed cargo lightering and attempts to drag free with help from the British cruiser Catboat and three tugs.
Hayes, cashier of the First National Bank of Lexington Oklahoma, sentenced to five years for making a false report to the Comptroller, was granted a new trial by the United States circuit court of appeals after a district court conviction in Oklahoma.
A federal grand jury returned a 15 count indictment against the Southern Pacific Railroad for allegedly granting secret rebates to the California Sugar and White Pine Agency. The rebates were reportedly discovered by the Interstate Commerce Commission and could bring a total fine up to $300,000.
National banks will not participate in the state bank deposit guaranty law. Lawrence O. Murray, comptroller of the currency, informed W. W. Rowman, secretary of the Kansas Bankers Association, that the ruling comes from his office.
