The oldest son of Mr and Mrs John Carr near Stafford Nebraska was trampled to death by a fractious colt while leading the animal with a rope about its waist. The incident occurred at the family ranch between 8 and 9 o clock this morning and the rope remained tied to the boy when his body was found.
Havana June 15 engineers continued pumping water from the eastern dam enclosing the wreck of the Maine. At 10 o clock the water stood five feet six inches below normal as crews aimed to drop eight more feet by night. The plan seeks to expose the interior of the after superstructure and part of the engine room.
Charles B. Forgan president of the National Bank of Chicago urged a national reserve association at the National Association of Credit Men meeting in Minneapolis. He argued the U S lacks a true banking system and that local banks forming stockholding associations could benefit from a nationwide branch network.
London announces that the White Star line and the seamen union have reached a settlement. White Star grants a 2.50 per month wage increase to all affected workers, half the amount demanded by strikers. Chicago June 15 The Western Golf association year book lists thirty two clubs that failed to report. It suggests members of these clubs receive minimum ratings in open tournaments. Included is the Happy Hollow club of Omaha.
Joseph F. Smith head of the Mormon Church was summoned to testify before the House sugar trust investigating committee about the formation of the Utah Idaho Sugar Company. Prominent witnesses listed include Thomas R. Cuttler Alfred Harrison Charles Harrison and others. Charles Heike also testified.
In Omaha at 763 North Eighteenth street Tony Banderi and Florence Brook died after a revolver duel with Tony discovering his cousin at the woman's rooms. Frank Banderi was seriously wounded as Philadelphi Milano reported the quarrel over the woman. Evidence shows two discharged revolvers beside the bodies.

A young man died from injuries after a Monday night crash near Waterloo following a Joy Ride. He had been with a group of friends including Mrs Moore and two young women after a dispute at the Henshaw, with Moore driving and reportedly taking others on a trip to Fremont. The auto struck a bridge. several others were only mildly hurt. Moore was about 28 and recently married.
An international arbitration court in El Paso ruled on the Chamizal land dispute, splitting seven million dollars of land between Mexico and the United States after a twelve year contention. The decision, reached after hearings from April, marks a compromise with both nations dissenting.
Jack Johnson and companions escaped injury after an east end automobile crash during a London tour. Police recorded names on suspicion of speeding as Johnson joked that authorities arrest him for scorching, a reference to his notoriety.
