Berlin reports over fifty deaths from ptomaine poisoning at the homeless shelter on Froebel street since Dec 26, with fifteen more dead and sixty to seventy gravely ill. New cases flood hospitals as authorities cling to a decayed fish theory amid rumors of deliberate poisoning.
Nebraska Taft league members met in Lincoln to plan the campaign for electing delegates to the national Republican convention in Chicago. A committee will propose district delegates, with four at large delegates to be chosen January 14. Ernest M. Pollard resigned as secretary. Frank M. Currie was elected successor.
George Bridges was arrested Monday night in Monessen with a suitcase holding seventy two sticks of dynamite and fuses. He was charged with larceny by a Henderson Owl Company official for allegedly stealing explosives from the company magazine. A Friday morning hearing was postponed as investigators assess the case.

In Omaha on December 28, Thomas J. Kelly and Anton Duda both department foremen at Cudahy Packing were killed by an elevator cable in the glue house. Duda was lowering the elevator and died at the pit. Kelly attempting to move it died from electric current linked to the elevator controller. The coroner will investigate.

Reports from Melilla say Madrid troops repulsed and decimated Rif tribesmen with twenty seven killed and one hundred five wounded among Spanish forces. General Ros was wounded. Rif forces suffered about four hundred casualties.
