Parsons Band Cutter expands amid booming business
The Parsons Band Cutter and Self Feeder Company adds a large 80 by 104 foot two story brick building to its Newton facilities as demand rises. The old 32 year old building was torn down and replaced to house machine and blacksmith shops. Also notes resident moves from Palo Alto township to town life on South Farmer street, praising Newton and welcoming the Phillips family. A Cherry Creek bridge accident involved Clem Hepsley and his traction engine, with Hepsley unhurt and the engine repairable. Des Moines General Conference appointments list several in-county areas. Family reunion at M Cavanagh home draws Newton coverage
The Daily State Press of Iowa City reports a September reunion at Mr. and Mrs. M Cavanagh’s Newton home with four daughters and a son, plus four grandchildren and a daughter-in-law. Attending were Amy Lucy and Jas M of Iowa City, Julia M McElroy of Newton, Carrie K Spring of Chicago. Sons-in-law W C McElroy of Newton and Charles Spring of Chicago were absent due to business. The Iowa Brigade Army of the Tennessee held a reunion in Iowa City this week, with many veterans from the area. County and state tax levies for next year are projected to be lower, despite ongoing county office activity by the Robbers. Miss Ella Clarkson hosted a pre-nuptial gathering for Maud Clark with tea, book-title games, telegrams, and a lunch.

Lewis-Clark Wuptuls Wed In Quiet Newton Ceremony
Harry T. Lewis and Miss Maude V. Clark were married at the bride’s home in Newton in a quiet ceremony attended by relatives and close friends. Rev. Baumgardner officiated, with Miss Sampey at the piano, and yellow Sunflower club decorations. The couple, popular locals, will reside in Burlington where Lewis serves as a railroad mail clerk.
