Clinton Hosts Annual Iowa Department Encampment Parade
The annual encampment of the department of Iowa convened in Clinton on Tuesday and Wednesday drawing a large crowd of veterans and families. Over three thousand veterans marched in the parade. Col J P K Thompson of Rock Rapids was elected commander for the next year, with Cedar Rapids to host the next meeting. Garrett Post was represented by ex Commander Manning, Robert Magee and Jesse R Lamb. The Ladies of the G A R and W R C were represented by several members. they praised Clinton for hospitality and the excellent reception given to visitors.

Commander Newman of A.R. lauded Newton Knights Templar band for fine playing and gentlemanly conduct at Clinton state encampment. The band, only department west of the Mississippi, drew attention during parade with 250 in line.
