Rev Dr Tal mage denounces expurgation of scriptures and defends the Bible against modern critique. He argues the book’s preservation across centuries proves its divine protection, rejects adding or removing passages, and urges personal holiness over textual edits. He likens expurgation to vandalism and cites family Bible readings and biblical imagery to defend faith.

It contrasts amiable temperament with firm stance against provocation, and paints vivid scenes of women shoe polishers near market sheds and Thiers workers in grimy machine shops. It mentions a college woman teaching in Thiers, earning five dollars monthly and expected to supply winter fuel.
