Baxter Congregational Church News and Local Notes

Congregational Church under Rev G L Shull holds 11:00 a m and 7:30 p m services with Sunday school at 10:00 a m and mid week prayer on Wednesday. Local items note Miss Irene Seger visiting, Dr S F Miller to open a drugstore, and Des Moines Fire Engine demo by John Buchanan Jr. Several locals travel to Des Moines, Harper's Ferry, Dubuque, Chicago, and Michigan for work, business, or visits. Murphy reports donations to Nebraska relief, school progress, and farm notes. Several residents move, repair, or purchase teams and equipment. water well at John Murphy’s is near overflow. Win Russell plans Idaho migration.

Death of Mrs T T McCord in Taylor Nebraska

Mrs Elizabeth Campbell McCord born December 9 1830 in Angola Indiana died at her home in Taylor Nebraska aged about 64. Her husband Thomas T McCord arrived with the body in Newton. funeral held at Presbyterian church at 2:30 Sunday afternoon conducted by Rev Rice. She was a devoted stepmother to four stepchildren and a lifelong Christian with a loving family.

Emory Marshall Died Near City After Illness

Emory Marshall, aged 67 years and 20 days, died Wednesday evening January 2, a few miles south of this city. Born December 12, 1827 in Clark County Ohio, he married in 1851 and fathered 12 children, eight living. A Union Army veteran, he never fully recovered from wartime disease. A Christian man, he was held in high esteem. Funeral at the family home Friday January 4, conducted by Rev. E G Brooks of the M E church, interment in the streetz cemetery.
