Harvey County opens interpretive animal center at West Park
Harvey County Parks and Recreation reports the new interpretive center at West Park, 13 miles west of Newton, is in operation. The facility houses injured and young animals for care and possible release, and features a model fish hatchery and a 225 gallon aquarium for outdoor education. The center is open 6 8 p m Thursdays and Fridays and 1 8 p m Saturdays and Sundays, with group showings by telephone request.

Sedgwick OKs $100,000 Industrial Revenue Bonds for Cable
Sedgwick City Council approved a ordinance to issue 100000 in industrial revenue bonds to Newton Cable TV Inc for building cable facilities. The firm waives tax exempt status and will pay the city a service charge equal to foregone taxes plus a 3 percent annual franchise tax on gross revenue. Bond retirement is projected in about 12 years with 192 to 320 hookups expected over four years as cables go underground.
