KPL to raise rates as gas from Spivey-Grabs field bought
Kansas Power and Light plans to buy 10 million cubic feet daily from the Spivey Grabs field in Kingman County. Prices could lift overall consumer costs by 25 to 40 percent. The Wichita contract at 1.85 dollars per 1000 cubic feet may push KPL to higher prices for 40 million cubic feet of core purchases. The supplier says the field supplies about 17 percent of KPL load and may trigger cutoffs for some interruptible customers during peaks.
