English women bicycle across the U S Bikecentennial route
Two London women Barbara Roett and Madeleine Harmsworth travel from Pueblo to St Louis by bike as part of the Bikecentennial route. They rode 98 miles to Newton and plan to complete the 4200 mile coast to coast trek over several summers.

Wheat harvest begins in southwest Kansas
In Wellington Anthony and Caldwell offices, harvest activities started despite soft muddy fields. In Harper County elevators reported loads of wheat at 60 pounds per bushel with 12 to 13 percent moisture. Officials predicted full swing by June 12 in Sumner County with ten combines, ten trucks and six operators needed.
