Bloodmobile visits FCC AMVETS Post 9

Frederick County Chapter of the American Red Cross lists upcoming blood collection dates at Frederick Community College gym on Sept 30 from 9 a.m. to 2 30 p.m and Oct 5 at AMVETS Post 9 Middletown from 1 to 6 30 p.m. The drive notes nine collections this month to meet demand and cites rising hospital usage. Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh 110 pounds, be in good health, and meet medical requirements. History of hepatitis jaundice heart disease or malignancy excludes donation. Donations may be made every eight weeks.

Sherman Ave House Fire Reported In 24 Hour Log

Fire calls logged over the past day include a house fire on Sherman Ave at 8 39 a m with response from United Independents and Citizens. A building fire at 1107 Key Parkway occurred at 4 29 p m with the same agency response. An automatic alarm at 1214 Still Meadow Place rang at 4 42 p m with Independents United and Citizens in attendance. Ambulance calls recorded emergency 21 and routine 1.

Weather outlook for Western Maryland and Maryland Mountains

Tonight, Western Maryland counties see variable clouds with a 0 percent shower chance, becoming windy and cooler with lows around 50. Northwest winds 15 to 25 mph. Thursday, partly cloudy and cooler with highs mid 60s and winds 10 to 15 mph. Maryland mountains face a 50 percent shower risk tonight, turning windy and cooler with lows in the low to mid 40s and northwest winds 15 to 25 mph, then partly cloudy highs in the mid to upper 50s. Extended outlook shows a showers chance in the mountains Friday, otherwise partly cloudy and cool with highs near 60 and lows in the 40s. Yesterday's high lows: Frederick 80-51, Westminster 81-55, Cumberland 81-51, Oakland 78-56.

Wet weather across eastern half with scattered showers

A band of showers and thunderstorms stretched from Lake Erie through Ohio and central Tennessee into central Mississippi. Hopkinsville Kentucky logged 1.03 inches in six hours. Temperatures varied from the 70s in the Pacific Northwest to 104 at Palm Springs, with widespread 50s to 80s forecast across the nation for Wednesday. Lottery results from Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Washington, DC were also reported on Tuesday night.
