Missing inventor seeks return of device to avert air collisions
Hollywood AP reports Elmer C. Menkel, an inventor penniless after leaving a Reno hotel two weeks ago with only his tools, is pursued by Polaris Engineering for a motion detector that sees approaching aircraft and diverts them. Polaris offers a $150,000 share as government funding pledges. Menkel hoped to return to Los Angeles but worries for his family as authorities hold parts and friends guard the device.
