Dow ends session lower amid volatile trading pullback
Stocks closed with the Dow down 279 points at 11275.5 after a sharp midday drop, aided by dollar strength and computer trading that spurred a late rally. The Standard & Poor’s 500 fell 1.11 to 128.20 and the Nasdaq declined 5.50 to 2756.25 as concerns about consumer confidence and Fed policy weighed on markets.
