Marylanders facing harassment or stalking gain a new peace order option starting Friday. The law broadens relief beyond domestic cases, allowing ex parte orders and later six month protections after hearings. Violations carry up to 90 days in jail and fines up to 1.6 thousand dollars. appeals may shift to Circuit Court while keeping the order in effect.
Fredericks Mullinix Park is not at risk for a new two story parking deck as Desman Associates ranks it among least suitable sites. City officials cite preservation of residential and historic resources and neighborhood support as crucial factors. The preferred location remains near the Frederic County Courthouse with plans to review footprint and coordinate with Court Street Carroll Creek Linear Park and the courthouse.
Frederick County Chamber of Commerce rejects adding sexual orientation to protected classes for job and housing discrimination. President Joseph Lebherz says business community ahead of politics and that protections are unnecessary, noting few orientation cases and favoring mediation by the Human Relations Commission. Rosa Bethel Moss a homemaker aged 103 near 104th birthday died Sunday September 26 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the widow of Lawrence P Moss and formerly of Danville Virginia born October 7 1895 in Danville to John Henry and Kate Ann Durham Shorter. Survived by two sons two daughters seven grandchildren ten great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Private services with burial in Mountainview Cemetery Danville will be conducted by Keeney Basford Funeral Home Frederick.
Mount St. Marys College students preserve campus history by tending a cemetery of the first settlers, linking past and future. Elijah Bremer leads the effort with collaborators from Minersville Pennsylvania Baltimore Oxon Hill Brookeville Wheaton, living in the BEACH House on campus as their project grows.
