Dye Tests To Aid Pollution Study Along Missouri River
A fluorescent red dye will be injected at 10 points along an 800 mile stretch of the Missouri River to map how pollutants dilute and travel downstream. Hydrologist Anthony Homiak of the US Geological Survey coordinates the study with Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota agencies, plus the Weather Bureau and Corps of Engineers. This is, to his knowledge, the first large scale red dye river study of its kind.
