City officials voice confidence the water supply will last a good while despite low pressure caused by drought and high demand. Officials urge conservation while plans are considered to improve facilities and await settled rain to restore normal pressure.
Governor Ritchie announced a Maryland War Trophy Distribution Board to allocate captured enemy materials among the states. The board includes General Reckord and Legion officials, with transport costs a likely municipal burden.
The Builders' Bible Class of Grace Reformed Church held its annual meeting with many members present. Reports showed progress. Richard S. Hargett was named president, Frank Suman vice president, C. The United States Department of Agriculture plans a large free exhibit at the Frederick Fair October 18 19 and 20 in the Agriculture and Poultry buildings. Bureaus of Chemistry Plant Industry and Markets will display along with Animal Industry Forest and Poultry. John McGill will head the display with about 2500 to 4000 square feet. A separate 1150 square foot school exhibit will be in the new Domestic Arts Building with women’s crafts and merchant displays. Auto races on October 21 feature R Burr Lampkin Floyd Willard Sandy McDonald and others with high performance entries from Essex and Peuguet.

A pageant titled The Search for the Licht or Mans Quest for God will be presented Sunday evening October 1 at 730 at the Woodsboro Opera House under the direction of the Missionary Society of the Lutheran church Woodsboro About 100 persons participate in the event with elaborate costumes and realistic staging. The second annual Woodsboro pageant aims to be larger than last years production which drew about 50 participants and benefited the local church fund.
