Carroll Scout Drive Begins Campaign Details Announced
The Carroll District Boy Scout Organization launches a financial drive from September 15 to November 20 with a Hanover of committees led by J. Pearce Wantz Jr. Westminster as chair. The General Campaign and Organization Steering Committee is chaired by Russell Sellman Westminster. The effort notes about 400 volunteers in Carroll County and emphasizes 1959 publicity to sustain the program. A separate note reports Britain detonating a low yield nuclear device from a balloon near Christmas Island, with prior tests on September 2 and 11 and an August 22 bomb resembling an atomic device.
