Indian Uprising Put Down at BIA Protest Scene
Demonstrators from AIM and the National Indian Youth Council clashed with police during a protest at the Bureau of Indian Affairs offices. Twenty six Indians were arrested for illegal entry, while officials sought to drop charges. The protests questioned BIA leadership and reforms backed by President Nixon. A separate note states Switzerland produced 4.81 million tons of cement in 1970.
