Parakeets Skunk and Gators Fuel Drugstore Showmen
Ike and Mike Katz, Memphis drugstore brothers famed for impulse buying, sold 6000 dollars in parakeets, 39.95 dollars in a monkey, 4100 dollars in nylon stockings, and 46 alligators in three days. They built a 32-store chain across five states, stock 31000 items, and back bold philanthropy as guidance for their business. A separate note recalls the Ford descendants reunion in Mountain Dale with 130 attendees and a Carter boxing win at the Cow Palace.
