Congress Closes Session with Last-Minute Signatures
Washington September 23. The sixty-seventh Congress adjourned sine die after ten months in session. President Harding signed the final measures at the Capitol, including a $2,454,210 deficiency appropriation with $200,000 for Smyrna relief, and the rivers and harbors bill. The closing moments featured political theater as senators and representatives delivered remarks and laughed, with talks of a possible November session and a raft of nominations dying with adjournment.
