Appeals board asked to OK trees, not parking, at old library site

The Record and West Second streets property owners asked the city board of zoning appeals for a spring variance to keep trees and shrubs and avoid adding on-site parking. Attorney Richard Burgee argued existing green space should be preserved citing nearby meter parking. About 20 residents supported keeping green areas, noting building repairs and historic sensitivity.
