Shoplifter Given 15 Day Term
A Frederick woman Shirley Ambush, 24, was sentenced by Judge Stanley Y. Bennett to 15 days in Frederick County jail for shoplifting at MecCrory's on West Patrick Street. The judge noted mothers with children lack immunity to jail and suggested Social Services support if precautions prevent repeat offenses. A pre sentence investigation was requested for Darlene Yokley, 20, found guilty of carrying a concealed weapon at the Hyattsville carnival grounds. Witnesses reported a hunting knife tucked in her shorts and a disorderly conduct dispute followed. The state did not press assault with intent to maim charges on Sept. 1.

Fifteen Elected Directors of YMCA in Frederick County
Thirteen new men and women joined the Frederick County YMCA board with two incumbents re-elected at the annual meeting. Joseph D. Baker was re-elected president and will guide the board with officers including Edward W. Plunkett Jr. as treasurer, Robert G. Hooper as membership head, Claude H. Barrick for facilities, Dr Norman Gary for personnel, Mrs Iris Mooney for program, and Lawrence A. Dorsey Jr. as secretary. Hooper and Silverman were incumbents, Megill and McPhearson are teens. Local Man Jailed For Assaulting Policeman
A 25-year-old Frederick man was jailed on 5250 bond after charges of resisting arrest and assaulting a city policeman. Pvt. Edgar L. Nicodemus confronted by officers at the West South Street and DeGrange Street intersection, a brief physical encounter followed. A hearing for Patterson is set in District Court on October 5.

Pilot Error Blamed In Fatal Plane Crash
Police credit apparent pilot error and fog for a twin engine Cessna 337 crash on South Mountain near Burkittsville killing Terrill G. Todd 50 of Beckley West Virginia and two others, Henry E. Brooks 44 and Antha Weikle 27, with Todd identified as Wilcox Manufacturing Co. owner. The MD investigation was not released and authorities reported no foul play or mechanical failure. The plane had left Beckley en route to Newark New Jersey for a Wilcox parts buying trip when it struck trees near the summit and burned.
