CIA Poison Shellfish Toxin Linked to Public Health Service
Testimony before the Senate intelligence panel reveals the CIA stored 11 grams of shellfish toxin, potentially one third of the world’s supply, in a vault near the Kennedy Center. An FDA spokesman said the toxin passed from the Public Health Service to the Army and later to the CIA, with destruction orders unclear. Senate members and defense officials questioned responsibility and possible evasion of presidential destruction orders from 1970.
