Narragansett Pier R I Sept 19 Miss Winnie Davis daughter of Mrs Jefferson Davis died yesterday at the Rockingham hotel where she had been a guest since early in the Pier season. After weeks of illness diagnosed as malarial gout she grew worse Saturday night and died at noon, the child of the Confederacy born 1863 in the Confederate executive mansion. She was engaged to Mr Wilkerson of Syracuse but the engagement ended after her father’s death to preserve the family name.
