Gov Hendricks Narrow Escape From Rail Disaster
A 4 oclock passenger train on the Indiana Blooming ton and Western struck a broken rail and was wrecked near Farmer City Illinois. About 20 were injured including Mrs Sceava of Texas, Mrs Williams of Mechanicsburg and Mrs Cheney of Mechanicsburg. Governor Hendricks escaped unharmed though a fellow traveler suffered severe injuries. Ten to fifteen others were hurt but all proceeded on. Alarm and excitement followed the mishap.

Cls Thomas and a Bloomfield posse pursued W A Sweasey after he killed two men and fled. At Dadisman’s house Sweasey refused surrender, fired on the posse, and was shot dead three times. His body, found with buckshot and a carbine and two pistols, was brought in for a $500 reward.

Addresses were given by Rev. Cyrun D. Harp and Revs. Page Milburn T. F. Hoffmeier and L. A. Mann. Music by Jefferson and Middletown bands and Bolivar orchestra accompanied school songs with organ.
