Burch Denies Baltimore Voting Fraud
In Baltimore an advisory panel plans a closed hearing before the U S Civil Rights Commission on charges of voting irregularities in the 7th District. Supporters of Parren J. Mitchell claim black voters were blocked from the primary, while officials found 14 late opening precincts but no evidence of fraud. Mitchell backers allege suppression as Friedel leads unofficial returns by 182 votes.
