Eric Reickel, a teacher at Urbana High School, was named Sam's Club Teacher of the Year and earned a $500 education grant for the school. Awarded by Brian Harry and Bev Ryan at the Frederick store, he was chosen for mentoring, motivating, and innovating in education.

Ritars a senior at Carver and Pedhoology Center Gov. Thomas Johnson Shek recenty attended state HOSA events and won gold in restorative and rehabilitation knowledge tests. She also claimed VICA state skills Olympics nursing assisting gold. Representing Maryland at Skills USA in Kansas City she was recognized for her nursing skills while working as a certified nursing assistant at Citizens Nursing Home.

Fort Detrick logistrics unit sponsors Sea Scout Ship 59 for a week long Chesapeake Bay voyage. Dr Fred Broadrup Steve Bare and Natalie Bare captained two sail boats with 10 youths aboard as crew navigating sails handling anchor and watch. A stop at St Michael's included a Maritime Museum visit. Heat aside the trip was a success and a Bahamas sail/dive trip is eyed next summer. Prospective youths 14 to 21 should call Dr Broadrup at 301-663-4003 during the day.
