In Baltimore the white candidate Martin O'Malley won the Democratic mayoral primary amid a black majority city. O'Malley led with 31,004 votes or 38 percent while Carl Stokes had 27,208 votes and Lawrence Bell 16,558. GOP hopeful David Tufaro led the Republican field with 53 percent. If elected in November, O'Malley would become the city’s youngest mayor.

Deputies from the Maryland State Fire Marshal s Office report a Tuesday morning fire at 6847 Whooping Run Way Lake Linganore where about $20 000 in damages occurred in a second door bedroom. No injuries were reported as two adults and three children were away at the time. A neighbor alerted authorities after noticing smoke. Victim in fatal crash along US 15 identified
Police identified Arlene Miller of Cornwalls Heights Pennsylvania as the woman killed in a Monday night single vehicle crash on US 15 just north of the state line. The 60s era passenger in a 1988 Cadillac died at the scene. The driver Saul Snyder 66 of Rockville survived and was treated and released.
