Prince George's teen gets 150 years for rape in Frederick case

Michael G. Colbert Jr. 18, used the alias Malcolm Ali Peterson to lure a 14 year old girl from a Frederick mall to Staley Park where she was raped. Colbert received 150 years, none suspended, while co defendant Cornelius Eugene Gray 21, pleaded guilty to second degree rape and is serving 15 years. The Dec 18 1993 incident involved alcohol and a brutal assault, with authorities noting the victim and family suffered severe psychological effects.

Man injured in fall near Potomac River cliffs

An unidentified man in his early 20s fell 60 to 80 feet while climbing with a harness near the Potomac River in Maryland Heights. He sustained fractures to a leg and arm and head injuries, was flown to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, and admitted. Rescue teams from Brunswick and the county ALSP assisted, while NPS Harpers Ferry investigates possible rappel registration.

United Way volunteers rally for 18 projects in Frederick

Barbara Rice of the Alzheimer's Association reports volunteers worked on 18 projects that would not be done otherwise as United Way efforts raise awareness. About 300 to 350 people attended a Baker Park picnic and local banks helped build shelves, bind a directory, and install a computer.
