Johnsons Named United by RAGBRAI Biking Across Iowa
Judy and Larry Johnson earn a featured honor as the bikingest couple of the year for riding 450 miles across Iowa in the RAGBRAI event. They joined participants from Hawaii Maryland Carroll County and Montgomery County in a weeklong record journey with daily distances from 40 to 103 miles. The ride ran July 30 through August 5 with Iowa roads mapped by the Register newspaper and a century day earning LAW patches. The couple described hills steady wind and occasional accidents including a teenage rider needing sag wagon service and a car clipping Judy. They plan future tours with helmets and family participation while noting Iowa terrains resemble Frederick County and the camaraderie of riders and locals sustaining the event.
