Francis Scott Key First Day Covers On Sale At Hotel
Francis Scott Key envelopes for a first day issue went on sale at noon at the Frederick County Civil War Centennial headquarters in the Key Hotel lobby. Hand cancelled for September 14, the envelopes cost $1 each. Limited by stamp shortages, the 16 year old stamps restrict availability. Vendor C Lease Bussard notes the issue’s restricted stock.

Pension Bill Expands Veterans Benefits and Income Rules
The 1964 veteran's pension bill passed the House unanimously and moves to the Senate. It would grant pensions to all veterans 65 and older with low incomes, while adjusting disability and income tests. Changes include excluding portions of Social Security, exempting wives' earnings, and removing some non-service connected income from eligibility calculations. The measure would raise annual pension costs by about 110 million dollars.

The Frederick City Planning Commission will hold a public hearing at 7:00 P.M. on Monday September 14 1964 in the City Hall Assembly Room to consider approval of a preliminary plat for Section VII of College Estate Subdivision owned by Rosenfeld Realty Corporation. The subdivision lies west of Fort Detrick north of Lease property east of the Frederick By Pass and Shopping Center and south of Section VI of College Estates with a two acre park area to Frederick City. objections may be presented at the hearing.
