Wage Board Refuses To Back Down Amid Maritime Pay Strike
The Wage Stabilization Board defied unions by maintaining its veto on seamen pay increases amid looming AFL maritime strike and CIO walkout threats. President Truman faces the crisis with no immediate plan, as board members defend prior decisions and warn against further action. In separate news, Marvin M. Weinberg of Baltimore was seriously injured when a small plane crashed near Newton Village in Prince Georges County, Maryland.
