Bears Mix Youth and Vets Under Pardee in 1975 Plans
Chicago Bears pivot from last season with a new coaching staff led by Jack Pardee and a flurry of trades to revamp the offense. Rookie Walter Payton headlines a revamped backfield along with receivers Latta Shanklin and Grim, while the defense gains Plank Wilson and Hartenstine. A top priority remains fixing the quarterback position as Douglass holds the No. 1 role, and the club eyes steadier production to climb from last place toward a return to former glory.

Funds Restored To Annapolis Midget League
Anne Arundel County Executive Robert A. Pascal restored funds for the county midget football league pending a federal civil rights inquiry. The funds were frozen after charges of racial discrimination related to a team sponsored by an Elks club. Officials cited a 30-player limit that led to the dismissal of Tony Bryant, an 8-year-old Black player, and two white players, prompting resignations by two assistant coaches in protest.
