Gag order eyed in Montgomery triple murder case
Montgomery County Circuit Court is expected to sign a gag order to bar prosecutors from discussing the March 1993 triple murder in which Lawrence Horn and James Perry are charged. The case involves Horn, his estranged wife Mildred Horn, their disabled 8 year old son Trevor, and nurse Janice Saunders. Prosecutors seek equal application to both sides and aim to avoid a mistrial. Horn, in California for extradition proceedings, allegedly paid Perry about $1.5 million from a child’s estate settlement with Children’s Hospital of Washington State in 1985.

Park Reopens in Gathland State Park with Volunteer Help
Gathland State Park near here is open again after a three year closure, driven by volunteers. About 20 docent volunteers staff the museum from noon to 5 p.m. weekends, with 24 hour restrooms and water back on. The museum may stay open until November though heating is not available in cold weather. Training for new docents is planned for Oct. 22 at the museum. Local historian Tim Reese is compiling an events list, and a new Friends group is forming to maintain park facilities and clear debris. A Sept. 17 meeting is scheduled at 10 a.m. at the museum. Navy Airman Apprentice Levon Kirkpatrick, son of James and Nancy Kirkpatrick, completed BASM training in Millington, Tenn., after enlisting in November 1993.
