Frederick businesswoman Helene Vona dies at 77
Helene Carlisle Gregory Vona, 77, of 7701 Dance Hall Road Frederick, died Saturday at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Born September 18, 1916 in Frederick, she and husband Joseph Vona founded Dairy Maid Dairy Inc. in 1946 and she served as an officer until her death. An active community leader, she helped found the hospital auxiliary, belonged to the Daughters of the Confederacy, led the Girl Scouts council for eight years, chaired PTA groups, and was a Maryland Terrapin Club member. She attended First Baptist Church of Frederick and sang in the choir.
